Round-Table Conference on “Relations between Afghanistan and Regional States
On Tuesday, August 29, 2017, three researchers from the Afghan Institute for Strategic Studies (AISS) attended a round-table conference on “Relations between Afghanistan and Regional States” at the Resolute Support Headquarters. The round-table was organized by the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) in Kabul, Afghanistan. In addition to the main discussion of Afghanistan's relations with the countries of the region, the meeting also discussed the threat of terrorism for the countries of the region. The purpose of this round-table conference was to understand the prospects of Afghanistan’s regional relation, with particular focus on its immediate neighboring countries, after the issuance of the new strategy of the US towards Afghanistan.
The researchers of AISS, delegates and diplomats from the Embassies of United States, United Kingdom, Canada and Australia were present in the round-table.
It was also decided that a series of meetings focusing on Afghanistan will held in future and they will be attended by the NATO political advisors and representatives of the Embassies.
