Winners of 2016 “Avicenna International Award for Intercultural Cooperation for Peace”
The Afghan Institute for Strategic Studies (AISS) is pleased to announce the selection of the winners of its first annual award, “Avicenna International Award for Intercultural Cooperation for Peace” for 2016. The awarding ceremony will take place in coming weeks in Kabul to announce the winners. The aim of the award is to identify and commend distinguished institution(s) and individual(s) whose efforts have significantly contributed to solving complex political, diplomatic and/or social conflicts that have prominent cultural dimension and/or manifestation. The award is named after Avicenna -“Ibn Sīnā”-, a renowned scholar of our shared civilizational abode who was among the pioneers of inter-cultural dialogue and cooperation, particularly through science and philosophy.
The winners of this year (AD 2016/Solar 1395) are two prominent political personalities who have an important role in resolving a recent complicated diplomatic crisis. . The winners were selected by the leadership of AISS after a series of consultations with national and international experts and officials.
