Celebrating 605th Birthday of Nooruddin Abdul Rahman Jami


On Thursday, November 14 2019, the Afghan Institute for Strategic Studies- Herat Office, Commemorated the 605th Birthday of Mawlana Nooruddin Abdul Rahman Jami; Poet, Writer, musician and Politician.
In this event, which was attended by students, cultural activists, civil society and media, university lecturers and poets discussed the political personality of Mawlana Jami and his influence on the Timurid court.
At first, Nooria Noorzadeh, university lecturer, spoke about the political position of Nooredin Abdul Rahman Jami in the Timurid court. She stated that Jami represented three most trusted classes (Scholars, Sufis and Poets) in his age. She also said that in the Timurid court, Jami was appointed as a Judge because of his Knowledge. He resolved the disputes brought in the Timurid court.
Ms. Noorzadeh concluded her remarks by discussing Mawlana Jami’s ‘Selselatul-Zahab’ journal.
After that, Mr. Fazl Ahmad Alami, lecturer at Herat University, spoke about scientific, literary and mystical authority of Jami. He stated that Mawlana Jami is one of the theorists who has explained his mystical philosophy by relying on the religious text. Then Mr. Alami referred to the political and social relations of Jami. He said that in addition to Mawlana Jami’s popularity among the Timurid kings, Jami was also praised by kings from neighboring countries such as the Ottoman and Turkmen kings. 
At the end of this program, a number of participants recited the poems of Jami, and then a group of cultural activists, civil society activists, and members of AISS, paid tribute to Mawlana Jami by laying flower on his putting flowers on his tomb.
