AISS Holds ‘2014 Election Dialogue’ II

The Afghan institute for Strategic Studies (AISS) hosted the second part of the ‘2014 Election Dialogue’ series in Kabul today. The meeting is part of a series of inter-Afghan dialogue that AISS has planned to organize in all major cities of Afghanistan throughout the year. The aim of this dialogue series is to contribute to “election fever” and to further create a space connecting various components of the Afghan society with the aim of identifying and addressing potential problems of the next presidential election. Acknowledging the significance of the next presidential elections to overall state of affairs, both internally and externally, AISS aims to address various aspects of next year’s elections as means to contributing to its legitimacy and transparency. Today’s meeting brought together members of the Afghan government, parliament, civil society, media, political parties and academia. It focused on the technical aspects of the election, such as voter registration and prevention of fraud.
