January 25-26, 2017
The “Silk-Road and Transport Diplomacy” international conference organized by Allameh Tabataba’i University (ATU) in collaboration with the silk-road Universities Network (SUN) at the strategic city of Chabahar provided a unique opportunity for scholars from countries of the region to exchange views on the future potentials of regional economic cooperation in the Silk Road region. Mr. Nazir Kabiri one of AISS researcher was attended in the conference. The aim of the conference was to evaluate mechanisms in order to design new ideas based on scientific standards to attract investments and improve transportation among regional countries.
The Afghan delegation believes that the historic Chabahar deal signed last year sat a successful model of trilateral cooperation amongst India, Iran and Afghanistan and asked for further cooperation between the three countries. Chabahar is considered an important trading port between Afghanistan and regional countries. Chabahar port (sea-land route) will provide Afghanistan an alternative and more effective route for trade and help elevate trade volume between India and Afghanistan by providing a shorter route for transporting goods between the two countries.
