The AISS celebrated Sepandārmazgān Festival to honor Women’s dignity
Today, the AISS celebrated Sepandārmazgān/Esfandegan, an ancient festival celebrated for Women on 5th Day of month of Esfand/February. The aim of the ceremony was to honor and appreciate Women’s dignity and to rejuvenate Afghanistan’s historical and cultural heritages. Participants of the ceremony were cultural activists, writers, and social and women’s rights activists. The panelists discussed on women’s role in the ancient Afghanistan and compared the current situation of women with different historical periods. They also talked on solutions to fully achieve women’s given rights by the law.
The ceremony was started with recitation of poems and Shahnama and on the sideline, guests ate Esfandi Ash, an especial spaghetti eaten during month of Esfand by the ancient Persians and delicious Afghani Bollani.
