Afghan Civil Society conference on gains, challenges and priorities


Afghan Institute for Strategic Studies held a 3-day conference in cooperation with National Endowment for Democracy (NED) from 4-6 October 2016 at the AISS HQ in Kabul, Afghanistan.

The conference was aimed to identify Afghan Civil Society gains, challenges and priorities in upcoming two years. The conference was attended by 25 representatives of various civil society organizations from across the country. It was emphasized by the participants that poor coordination among civil society, rule of law absence and insecurity are some of the biggest challenges. Participants emphasized that civil society organizations should have their say in policy-making and there must be women representation in all the processes.

At the end of the conference participants suggested for strengthening civil society and in order to overcome above mentioned challenges, government of Afghanistan and Afghan Civil Society both together must take serious actions.
