Farsi Translation of Gender Apartheid in Afghanistan


The Afghan Institute for Strategic Studies launched the Farsi translation of Professor Karima Bennoune’s treatise on “Gender Apartheid in Afghanistan” in University of Toronto’s Munk School of Global Affairs and Public Policy in Toronto, Canada. Karima Bennoune is an international law expert who teaches at the University of California, Davis. She specializes in public international law and international human rights law, including issues related to culture, extremism and terrorism, and women’s human rights. The book was translated by Mohammad Mukhtari. 

The event was co-sponsored by Munk Schools's Center for European, Russian and Eurasian Studies, and Munk School’s Asian Studies. The event was held in-person and virtually. During the launch event, a panel discussion was held to discuss the situation of women in Afghanistan under the Taliban’s Gender Apartheid.
