From Kabul to Queens: The Jews of Afghanistan and Their Move to the United States


 

The official launch of the Persian translation of From Kabul to Queens: The Jews of Afghanistan and Their Move to the United States was held with the participation of Sara Y. Aharon, author and historian. Aharon is a scholar of social history and diaspora studies whose work focuses on collective memory, migration, and the lived experiences of marginalized communities. The book presents a documented narrative of the history of Afghanistan’s Jewish community and their migration to the United States, highlighting cultural, historical, and human connections between Afghanistan and the Jewish world. The Persian translation of the book was completed by Sodaba Azizi.

The event was organized as part of Rumi Night in Washington: Celebrating Our Shared Humanity and featured a live conversation with the author, followed by a Q and A session with the audience. The discussion was moderated by Dr. Sahraa Karimi and held in person at the Museum of the Bible in Washington, D.C. The book will be made available to the public soon, and details regarding access and distribution will be announced in the near future.
