Ms. Annie Pforzheimer is a retired diplomat and adjunct professor at the City University of New York. She served as acting deputy assistant secretary of state for Afghanistan until 2019 and as deputy chief of mission in Kabul (2017-2018). With a 30-year career focused on security and human rights, she directed the 2014 U.S. Strategy for Engagement in Central America and contributed to Colombia’s peace process.
